Teams aligning on usage&lt;/h3&gt;

&lt;p style="margin:1em 0;font-family:-apple-system,BlinkMacSystemFont,'Segoe UI',Roboto,Oxygen-Sans,Ubuntu,Cantarell,'Helvetica Neue',sans-serif;color:#2d2d2f;font-size:16px;line-height:1.5"&gt;Some of your teammates might use totally vanilla coding agents, thinking that &lt;em&gt;“someone else’s markdown couldn’t &lt;strong&gt;possibly&lt;/strong&gt; have that big an impact on my work.”&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="margin:1em 0;font-family:-apple-system,BlinkMacSystemFont,'Segoe UI',Roboto,Oxygen-Sans,Ubuntu,Cantarell,'Helvetica Neue',sans-serif;color:#2d2d2f;font-size:16px;line-height:1.5"&gt;Other teammates might have built custom tooling of their own that, even if it works well for them, doesn’t translate well to a shared understanding or process. More on that in a second.&lt;/p&gt;

Teams remembering (or learning) good engineering fundamentals&lt;/h3&gt;
&lt;p style="margin:1em 0;font-family:-apple-system,BlinkMacSystemFont,'Segoe UI',Roboto,Oxygen-Sans,Ubuntu,Cantarell,'Helvetica Neue',sans-serif;color:#2d2d2f;font-size:16px;line-height:1.5"&gt;The second set of challenges I get asked are a bit trickier, and specific to the current state of AI coding.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="margin:1em 0;font-family:-apple-system,BlinkMacSystemFont,'Segoe UI',Roboto,Oxygen-Sans,Ubuntu,Cantarell,'Helvetica Neue',sans-serif;color:#2d2d2f;font-size:16px;line-height:1.5"&gt;I’ve started summing this up as:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="margin:1em 0;font-family:-apple-system,BlinkMacSystemFont,'Segoe UI',Roboto,Oxygen-Sans,Ubuntu,Cantarell,'Helvetica Neue',sans-serif;color:#2d2d2f;font-size:16px;line-height:1.5"&gt;&lt;em&gt;“How do I get my team to actually stop acting like vibe coders and treat AI as real engineers would?”&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="margin:1em 0;font-family:-apple-system,BlinkMacSystemFont,'Segoe UI',Roboto,Oxygen-Sans,Ubuntu,Cantarell,'Helvetica Neue',sans-serif;color:#2d2d2f;font-size:16px;line-height:1.5"&gt;I say this one is trickier because everything about AI suggests that success is about going faster. People with this mindset think “let’s just ship as much as we can, and then the speed and iteration velocity will overtake any mistakes that we make.”&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="margin:1em 0;font-family:-apple-system,BlinkMacSystemFont,'Segoe UI',Roboto,Oxygen-Sans,Ubuntu,Cantarell,'Helvetica Neue',sans-serif;color:#2d2d2f;font-size:16px;line-height:1.5"&gt;We know that this doesn’t actually work in the real world, and anyone who’s learned the fundamentals of good engineering knows exactly why speed and iteration &lt;em&gt;on their own&lt;/em&gt; lead to terrible results.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="margin:1em 0;font-family:-apple-system,BlinkMacSystemFont,'Segoe UI',Roboto,Oxygen-Sans,Ubuntu,Cantarell,'Helvetica Neue',sans-serif;color:#2d2d2f;font-size:16px;line-height:1.5"&gt;That’s why my skills force you (and your agents) to slow down, align yourself and the agent with goals and shared language, and bake in proper engineering practices along the way.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="margin:1em 0;font-family:-apple-system,BlinkMacSystemFont,'Segoe UI',Roboto,Oxygen-Sans,Ubuntu,Cantarell,'Helvetica Neue',sans-serif;color:#2d2d2f;font-size:16px;line-height:1.5"&gt;My skills codify these practices and principles into a shared process and workflow that works great for individual devs, and &lt;strong&gt;work even better when teams use them together.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

Teams with AI sceptics&lt;/h3&gt;
&lt;p style="margin:1em 0;font-family:-apple-system,BlinkMacSystemFont,'Segoe UI',Roboto,Oxygen-Sans,Ubuntu,Cantarell,'Helvetica Neue',sans-serif;color:#2d2d2f;font-size:16px;line-height:1.5"&gt;The third set of challenges is about teams with people who are just not using coding agents at all. This is probably the hardest conversation to have in engineering right now.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="margin:1em 0;font-family:-apple-system,BlinkMacSystemFont,'Segoe UI',Roboto,Oxygen-Sans,Ubuntu,Cantarell,'Helvetica Neue',sans-serif;color:#2d2d2f;font-size:16px;line-height:1.5"&gt;A dev’s default position is scepticism. Mine certainly is. I was sceptical about AI for a long time before I got started.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="margin:1em 0;font-family:-apple-system,BlinkMacSystemFont,'Segoe UI',Roboto,Oxygen-Sans,Ubuntu,Cantarell,'Helvetica Neue',sans-serif;color:#2d2d2f;font-size:16px;line-height:1.5"&gt;My belief is that a (mostly) silent majority of folks are still too sceptical to even want to try this tech. They most commonly worry about losing control of their understanding of the codebase, or skill loss from outsourcing their thinking to the robots.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="margin:1em 0;font-family:-apple-system,BlinkMacSystemFont,'Segoe UI',Roboto,Oxygen-Sans,Ubuntu,Cantarell,'Helvetica Neue',sans-serif;color:#2d2d2f;font-size:16px;line-height:1.5"&gt;For these cases, I’ve found that my skills are an amazing opportunity to &lt;em&gt;involve&lt;/em&gt; the sceptics in learning a way to codify battle-tested engineering best practices into an AI coding process shared by your entire team.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;h2 style="font-weight:bold;font-style:normal;font-size:1em;margin:0;font-size:1.5em;margin:1em 0;font-family:-apple-system,BlinkMacSystemFont,'Segoe UI',Roboto,Oxygen-Sans,Ubuntu,Cantarell,'Helvetica Neue',sans-serif;color:#000000;line-height:1.5"&gt;So where do you begin?&lt;/h2&gt;
&lt;p style="margin:1em 0;font-family:-apple-system,BlinkMacSystemFont,'Segoe UI',Roboto,Oxygen-Sans,Ubuntu,Cantarell,'Helvetica Neue',sans-serif;color:#2d2d2f;font-size:16px;line-height:1.5"&gt;How do you actually persuade and onboard your team to reach this wonderful desired state, where everyone’s contributing together to a set of skills that your whole team can use to get amazing results?&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="margin:1em 0;font-family:-apple-system,BlinkMacSystemFont,'Segoe UI',Roboto,Oxygen-Sans,Ubuntu,Cantarell,'Helvetica Neue',sans-serif;color:#2d2d2f;font-size:16px;line-height:1.5"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The first thing is the knowledge gap:&lt;/strong&gt; they just don’t know what these skills are.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="margin:1em 0;font-family:-apple-system,BlinkMacSystemFont,'Segoe UI',Roboto,Oxygen-Sans,Ubuntu,Cantarell,'Helvetica Neue',sans-serif;color:#2d2d2f;font-size:16px;line-height:1.5"&gt;This is something that I can help with, of course. The video below will help.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p style="margin:1em 0;font-family:-apple-system,BlinkMacSystemFont,'Segoe UI',Roboto,Oxygen-Sans,Ubuntu,Cantarell,'Helvetica Neue',sans-serif;color:#2d2d2f;font-size:16px;line-height:1.5"&gt;And if each person on your team uses &lt;em&gt;different&lt;/em&gt; skills or plugins or approaches, including ones they don’t fully understand themselves but like because they “feel like magic,” everyone’s experience is worse.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="margin:1em 0;font-family:-apple-system,BlinkMacSystemFont,'Segoe UI',Roboto,Oxygen-Sans,Ubuntu,Cantarell,'Helvetica Neue',sans-serif;color:#2d2d2f;font-size:16px;line-height:1.5"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Because of these two gaps, my #1 recommendation is to start with grilling.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
